Rhonda Kimberley
Principal Occupational Therapist
Rhonda is the senior Occupational Therapist and director of Explore Therapy Occupational Therapy. She is an experienced therapist who has worked in a range of paediatric educational, community and private practice settings. Rhonda is passionate about achieving client centred goals, regularly meeting with the child and parent or caregiver to address continually evolving everyday needs and concerns, reviewing strategies to meet the child’s ongoing development and desired outcomes. Rhonda enjoys seeing children steadily develop skills and independence in their activities of daily living, whether it be gross motor and fine motor skills, handwriting, dressing, self-regulation and sensory processing needs or mealtime skills.
Rhonda views the child in a holistic manner and works collaboratively with children, families, educators, medical and allied health professionals to help develop a child’s independence in activities of daily living. Rhonda completes community visits to ensure skills obtained in the clinic are transferred to a child’s home and educational setting. In collaboration with a child’s family and Speech Pathologist, Rhonda seeks to engage with children using their individual communication system such as voice, Pragmatic Organisational Dynamic Display (PODD) or electronic communication device.
Rhonda is trained in the Sequential Oral Sensory (SOS) Approach to Feeding Program and has enjoyed establishing a Food School at Explore Therapy for picky eaters. Rhonda enjoys working with children and their families in a 1:1 or group setting to learn how to interact with and explore a variety of foods through play!
Rhonda seeks to use evidenced based research to support children and regularly updates her knowledge in areas of practice such as Autism Spectrum Disorder, Attention Hyperactivity Deficit Disorder, working memory, toileting, sleeping, play and handwriting.
Rhonda is a member of Occupational Therapy Australia and is registered with Allied Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
In her spare time, Rhonda enjoys catching up with family and friends, walking her dogs and gardening.
Toni Heron
Senior Occupational Therapist
Toni is a Senior Occupational Therapist / Child Psychotherapist who has extensive experience working in the fields of Child and Adolescent Mental Health, Childhood Trauma and Paediatrics, in hospital and community settings, both in Melbourne and Sydney.
She has utilised her training in Occupational Therapy, Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy, and Infant Mental Health for several years. She has maintained a focus on working collaboratively and respectfully with clients, families and other involved professionals to ensure the best care is provided, and their needs are listened to. She emphasises the importance of a strengths-based, developmentally informed, and family -centred focus in her clinical work. She has enjoyed providing sensory processing assessments, fine and gross motor assessments and consultations in her most recent role at an Intensive Therapeutic programme for children in care.
Toni is a Member of Occupational Therapy Australia and is registered with the Allied Health Practitioner Regulation agency (AHPRA).
In her time away from work Toni likes to spend time with her family and friends, walking and playing with her dog Bobby , enjoying nature , gardening and attending music events.
Jessica Ward
Reception/Administration
Jessica supports the Explore Therapy team as our receptionist and administration officer.
In her previous work, Jess had the opportunity to work in collaboration with podiatrists and exercise physiologists. Now at Explore Therapy, Jess has expanded her knowledge of other allied health professionals and enjoys seeing how Speech Pathologists and Occupational Therapists work with children.
During her spare time, Jess enjoys reading, gardening, and learning Spanish.
